As of this morning, we still have not had a Golden Ticket winner. One student at Riley County Grade School has the winning ticket, they just haven't entered it yet. When the Golden Tickets were passed out, each student had a 1 in 425 chance of winning. If you have not yet participated, your odds have improved to 1 in 3! Congratulations to Riley County High School's Student of the Month for January, Trynity McCoy! Trynity, a 9th Grader, has earned a 3.67 GPA. English is her favorite subject & she is currently involved in Choir & Forensics. She looks forward to being part of the School Play, Softball, & Trap Team this Spring!

Riley Co. Forensics attended their first tournament of the season at Republic Co. on January 25, 2020. All members attending the tournament medaled. Hannah Trechter placed 2nd in Original Oration, qualifying for state; Hannah Trechter and Trynity McCoy won the 1st place medal in Impromptu Duet Acting, qualifying for state; Ethan Shanahan earned the 6th place medal in Extemporaneous Speaking and Camden Bartlett placed 2nd in Extemporaneous Speaking, also qualifying for state. It was a great first tournament; congratulations to all!
Due to more interest in the BOE open position the Special BOE meeting on January 13th in the RCHS library will begin at 6:00 p.m. with the regular meeting starting at 7:00 p.m. as usual.

What an awesome concert last night. Our students performed at a high level! Thank you Mrs Seidler and Mrs Lloyd for all your efforts and talent. Thank you also to Dr Milt Allen, Dr Carl Rowles, and Mr Steve Lueth from Kansas Wesleyan for assisting our students with our concert. Also, the alumni and friends choir was a great way to finish the evening.
A reception was held Monday evening prior to the Board of Education meeting to honor the board’s out-going members Jared Larson and Randy O’Boyle. The USD 378 Riley County Schools District wants to thank Jared and Randy for the dedication and service they have given to the education and development of our students and the commitment to the staff at USD 378.
A reminder that the Grade School Band concert scheduled for tonight has been rescheduled until after New Year's.
Riley County 3rd Graders had a visit from Deb, Brandon, and Logan the dog, from T. Russell Reitz Animal Shelter. They shared what services they provide for the community and what their jobs were like. Logan was a well behaved guest who loved to be pet. In return, our 3rd graders made 70 dog toys from recycled t-shirts to donate.
Due to weather conditions all after school activities have been cancelled for today, Friday, November 22nd.
We are excited to announce that our RCHS choir has been selected to perform at the Crown Center Shops in Kansas City during the holiday season! They will perform on Tuesday, December 3 at 7:15 pm with the performance lasting approximately 30 minutes. Cost is free and it is open to the public! Go Falcons!

Riley County Cross Country competed at regionals at the Leonardville golf course. Thank you so much to everyone who helped make the event run smoothly! Congratulations to all the runners on a successful season! A big congratulations to Anthony Cervantes, who placed 10th and qualified for state as an individual!! Anthony will run at Rimrock Farms near Lawrence next Saturday in the state meet!
Health & education advocates say they are close to unveiling state legislation that would increase the minimum age in Kansas to purchase tobacco products, including e-cigarettes, from 18 to 21.Similar laws (called Tobacco 21) have been passed in 18 states & Washington D.C.

The Riley County Wrestling Club is having an informational meeting on Monday, October 21st at 6:30pm at the Riley High School Wrestling Room for students in grades K through 8th. Students and parents are welcome to stop by and learn about the Wrestling Club and meet our new Head Wrestling Coach, Jared Weatherhead.

Students went through modules on teamwork, professionalism, problem solving, communication, networking, and attitude as they relate to employability.
Brandy Berg from KSU extension office came to 1C to present Clean Hands. Students were read a book about germs, given special lotion that stuck to their germs, then saw ALL the germs that were on their hands by putting their hands under a special light. Then they washed their hands, following the directions (scrubbing for 20 seconds). They got to use the special light again to see how many germs they got rid of... And how many they didn't!

The Tri-M, Modern Music Masters, Riley County Chapter 4602 inducted 11 new members on Thursday, September 19th. New Members are: Ryan Pierce, BreAnn Miesern, Ryan McClure, Camden Foltz, Hailey Sharp, Kaden Williams, Brandon Moots, Ashlee Wilkinson, Jessica Mensch, Clara Liseli, and Samantha Melson. Kansas law requires all vehicles used for student transportation pass an annual safety inspection by a qualified mechanic and the highway patrol. I am glad to report that all 15 buses, five vans, four Suburban’s, and two automobiles completed and passed inspection for the 2019-2020 school year. Safety is at the forefront of student transportation and we are grateful for a team that worked hard to see this goal accomplished.

From Mrs. Garver's 3rd Grade Class: Fred the gummy worm has been swimming all summer. The last time he swam before school started he forgot his life saver. Students' job is to work as a TEAM to get the life saver around Fred. Then get him to his boat with his oar on the boat. But wait! You can only use a paper clip, not unfolded and you cannot poke the gummies or touch them. 😉
Jamboree Update from Clay Center: Due to the forecast of rain, the Jamboree will be moved to the JH Football Field located at 12th & Prospect. This is directly east of CCCHS up on the hill. Seating is limited, so please bring a lawn chair & sit around the track. Parents can park in the softball parking lot directly across the street to the north of the field, up along 12th street, or in our middle school parking lot.
Walk-in Enrollment: August 1st from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at both RCGS and RCHS. Families may enroll at either school when they have children attending both schools.
Online Enrollment is open. Watch for two "No Reply" emails. One with instructions on how to enroll your students online and another with instructions on how to apply for free and reduced meals online. If you have questions or need help please contact one of the offices.
