Recently, USD 378 Riley County Schools was recognized under the State of Kansas Board of Education Kansas Can Star Recognition Program. This group designed and implemented the Kansas Education Systems Accreditation (KESA) school improvement model. Under this model districts are creating and implementing a continuous process of improvement. The Kansas Can Start program is a way for the state board to recognize a district’s success in a quantitative and/or qualitative manner. The state automatically calculates a district’s progress in three areas. The areas are Academically prepared for postsecondary, High School graduation, and Postsecondary success. The state uses four performance levels in their rating system. They are gold (highest), silver, bronze, and copper. Riley County earned a silver rating in the High School Graduation category and bronze in the other two categories. The district received three bronze ratings last year.
