Below are the updated schedule changes for Friday, May 12th at RCHS:
*RCHS Dismissal at 1pm
*Mid-East League Track Meet at Riley County at 2pm
*Mid-East League Golf at Stagg Hill at 2pm
*Home Varsity Softball vs Clay Center at 3:00pm with Senior Night in between games
*7th-12th Grade Vocal Music Concert at 7:30pm
The Riley County Bands under the Direction of Erin Lloyd held their annual Spring Concert this evening.
Parents, Staff, and Community Members enjoyed the wonderful performances by students in grades 5th through 12th! Excellent job Falcons!!
***Attention JH track and field patrons/parents***
The rest of the Mid East League track meet will now be concluding next week on Tuesday 5/16 starting at 1:00pm AT Rossville. There is approximately 5 events left to run, best guess are the remaining events should take no more than an hour and a half to finish all events. Only the students who have events left to compete will attend.
Plans have been made with classroom teachers, transportation, etc. The bus will leave at 11:15am from the grade school.
Track coaches will follow up with more information about remaining practices and procedures for the make up date.
FFA is busy cleaning staff vehicles for teacher appreciation week!
Final rehearsal is in full swing. Be sure to check out the 5th-12th Grade Band Concert tonight at 6:30pm!

Weather rolled in quicker than anticipated. The local administration at Rossville has decided to postpone the rest of the league meet, which as of now will be concluded at the high school MEL league meet which is slated for Thursday at Riley County. That is still in the air, as the weather could be poor on the original date.
More importantly, the team that is still at Rossville will be waiting in the HS gym at Rossville for the first and more severe cell to pass (around 3:45-4:00), then head back to Riley. That should put the team returning back to Riley somewhere in the neighborhood of 5:00.
Coaches will be in contact with more definite times for the team to return.
****Attention MS track parents/patrons**** Weather looks promising for today's league track meet at Rossville up until about 4:00pm. Rossville will be attempting to start field events earlier than the previous start time in order to get the meet completed without any weather interference. Any parent is able to take their child when their events are concluded, Rossville has also offered their HS gym for the team to ride out any possible weather at the end of the day, in efforts to keep our busses off the road until the weather clears. If you aren't familiar with their facilities, their gym is directly across the parking lot from the track and field. Please contact the RCGS office if there is any questions.
Senior Gracie Sensley competed at 3A State Forensics today. She received high scores on her Poetry entry for, "The Caged Bird Sings" and "Still I Rise". Congratulations Gracie!
Varsity Baseball and Softball hosted Marysville tonight. Both teams went 0-2 on the night. Varsity Softball will host Clay Center on Tuesday at 4:30! Baseball will be back in action the week of Regionals!
JV Softball hosted St.Marys tonight. The Falcons went 2-0 on the night. Varsity will host Marysville tomorrow at 4:30!
The RCHS Golf Tournament is off to a great start! Good Luck to all golfers!
Any of you all remember parachute day in PE or music? You knew this was the best day! Mrs. Kern had a great time with our 4th grade students today!
Varsity Baseball and Softball traveled to St. Marys tonight. Softball went 0-2 on the night and Baseball 0-2. JV Softball will host St.Marys on Thursday. Varsity Baseball and Softball will host Marysville on Friday.
Pastries with Parents will be held at RCGS on Friday, May 12th.
Congratulations to our State Solo and Small Ensemble singers! Rhythm n Blue, Treble Ensemble, Dallas Henton, and Charley Jones earned 1/Superior ratings! Jack Kelly, Makayla Machin, Alexzandra Anderson, Mavrick Winter, Collin Leikam-Tilton, Annelise Yoder, and Angelina Ellis earned 2/Excellent ratings!
Congrats to our State Solo and Ensemble participants! Sax Trio, Will Casebeer, Ryan Greathouse, and Jacob Wendland earned a 2/Excellent, and Ryan Greathouse also earned a 1/Superior on his Bass Clarinet solo!
JV Softball hosted Marysville tonight. The Falcons went 0-2 on the night. C-Team Baseball also hosted Clay Center dropping both games to the Tigers. Varsity Baseball and Softball will play on Tuesday at St.Marys!
Congratulations to the RCHS Student of the Month for April, Drew Shirley! Drew, a Junior, has a cumulative GPA of 4.0. She is a member of Culture Club, SADD, FCA, FCCLA, NHS, Pep Club, Student Council, and Key Club. She is also a member of the cross country, basketball, and dance teams. Drew also serves as the announcer at all home softball games. Here is what Ms. Pickering had to say about Drew: “Drew is by far the best student I have ever had. She is always respectful to staff and her peers. She is consistent with her grades and school work. I have seen her help out with Prom, going above and beyond with it. She is always asking how she can help me out, and is always willing to help her classmates.”
Mrs. Taylor also added: “Drew is the epitome of a student of the month selection. She is committed and works to perform the best she is able at everything she does whether it be academics, athletics, or activities. Drew’s personal character and maturity are second-to-none. She is a true pleasure to have in class and see in the halls.”
